Why do caves have staligment?

Caves have stalagmites, which are formations that grow upward from the cave floor, due to the deposition of minerals from dripping water. As mineral-rich water drips from the cave ceiling, it loses carbon dioxide, causing calcium carbonate and other minerals to precipitate and accumulate over time. This process is slow, often taking thousands of years, resulting in the characteristic upward-pointing formations. Stalagmites often develop in conjunction with stalactites, which hang from the ceiling, creating a dynamic and visually striking cave environment.
