While it has not been proven, there is often more pressure on private school students to do well in school, which often contributes to suicidal tendencies. Boarding school students also have these pressures, as well as being cut off from families for long periods of time.

I cannot agree with the use on two occasions of the Word 'often' in the above response: the Word 'may' would be more appropriate. It is not considered abnormal or unusual for individuals to experience suicidal thoughts. Only when a person acts upon suicidal thoughts, i.e. commences to develop a suicide plan, that their behaviour may be regarded as abnormal, indicating a possible need for moderation via psychological intervention. Again I'm unsure what the writer means by 'suicidal tendencies'. But if this phrase refers to a person who is known to be at risk of suicidethen psychological intervention may be indicated. Every situation is unique: hence the need in relation to each intervention, for the exercise of therapeutic judgment by expert psychological practitioners.
