What is quintilis?

Quintilis was the fifth month of the early Roman calendar, originally consisting of 30 days. It later became the seventh month when January and February were added to the beginning of the year. In 44 BCE, to honor Julius Caesar, Quintilis was renamed July. The month is now the seventh month of the Gregorian calendar, containing 31 days.
