To start a grape vine from an old one, you can take cuttings from healthy stems during late winter or early spring. Select a 6-12 inch cutting with several buds, then cut just below a node and above another. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone, plant it in a pot with well-draining soil, and water it thoroughly. Keep the cutting in a warm, bright location, and it should root within a few weeks, allowing you to eventually transplant it outdoors.
