Why do venodilators decrease preload?

By venodilating a vein, you are increasing the compliance of vein (which is the amount or degree by which a vessel can be streched). Since you increase compliance, one can store more blood resulting in pooling of more blood in veins, which will eventually result in less venous return resulting in decrease in preload.
