What effects does heroin have?

It kills pain, sedates, can cause some euphoria, constricts the pupils and slows the breathing.

It is addictive and so can have social consequences when people engage in maladaptive behavior to get it such as stealing and prostitution.

Besides the immediate risk of overdose, other health concerns include the hazards of needle sharing (jnfections) and the organ damage due to injecting or breathing powders that are used to cut the heroin.
