They enlisted in great numbers. & in many examples got dropped in it from a great height by poor (British) generalship: Gallipoli, Crete, Tobruk, Singapore, Dieppe....... but nonetheless the Anzacs, Canadians, Indians, South Africans and all others gave sterling service in Britains dark days. And all because of some (distant) shared ancestry. Amazing. I am British, I feel it says something about my national character that these people in the past did what they did for the reasons that they did, and I admit it makes me proud. Thankyou my Commonwealth pals, past & present. We will remember them.
