Legitimate Home Businesses
Here are a variety of answers from for various WikiAnswer contributors:
- There are if you know what to look for. Depending on the country you live in, a legitimate business is registered with the BBB, Chamber of Commerce, Direct Selling Association, and other organizations dealing with their product/service. They also offer a legitimate product/service on top of any recruiting aspect. Most countries will have such organizations. The names may not be the same of course.
- You could, for example, take in typing. Sell things on eBay, take in sewing jobs, child-mind (you need to refer to the appropriate authorities for this). for any business all you need to do to keep completely legal is to tell the council, you may have to pay business rates and tell the inland revenue in case you earn enough to pay taxes on what you earn. Certain things may not be acceptable if they disturb neighbors eg car repairs., You need to have your kitchen checked and meet certain hygiene standards and get a food hygiene certificate if cooking for others is involved.
- The Online Home Business has inundated the internet over the past 10 years and some people have made small fortunes in the process. However, more often than not, the Online Home Business has returned at most some tax benefits to the owner. The expenses of the business - from the purchase of the "system," monthly expenses for the "right" to use the business, the advertising costs and other expenses, typically outweigh the benefit of minor revenues. Often at the end of the year, despite some short-term money that may have been made, the business fails to deliver profit.
- Yes there are legitimate or real opportunities to have a work at home job. The problem is knowing which ones. If it sounds anything like just buy it hit a button and you'll start making money yesterday( you know just way too easy) look the other way. Anything you will make money at will take work. It may be easy work and some more then others but the real deal always take work. I got into Affiliate marketing. Its an easy way I found where you can go to places like clickbank.com or Amazon.com or even 100's of other places to find products to sell. They give you an affiliate link which is special to you. What you do is promote that affiliate link. When someone buys through that link you get payed. You normally make anywhere from 1% up to 50% per sale rarely more then 50%. Which 50% is rare but I do have a couple things that pay me that. You can promote these through payed advertising or build a website and promote them there or both. The problem with affiliate marketing is you don't get payed instantly. Sometimes it can take a month to 2 months to get a check depending on their return policy.
- There are some businesses certainly that are profitable, and if the individual owner is willing to work, like you would at a JOB, you can produce results. Most online home businesses promote becoming your own boss and working less. Although it appeals to the marketplace, it is rarely, if ever the case. For most people you will have to work at your results and persist through difficult times.
- How Do Some People Make the Money in an Online Home Business? Well, there is the 5% of business owners who make money with the templated business model. If you start a home business built on your own skills and expertise, you are far more likely to succeed and make a profit after the first 12-18 months. Almost certain revenues will be made for those who, over time, have built a substantial database of people who trust them and will try what they suggest. These individuals have started many home businesses online, and worked with them until the next great opportunity presents itself. They then rally the troops to another great offer, people jump on board, revenue is derived and before long, it's something new.
What you should look for in an online home business opportunity:
1. Do they demand you give them all your contact information without them offering you a way to contact them?
2. If they offer a phone number, dial it and see if you are able to speak with a human.
3. Research on your favorite search engine and see if there are multiple pages (template lookalikes) that come up when you search for keyWords in the business opportunity.
4. Is it free? (Nothing is ever free if it is meant to earn you revenue. Someone want a piece of the pie.)
5. Look up the name of the company again in your favorite search engine (google, Bing, Yahoo etc). Look for comments from others who have bought the business.
WARNING: Many of the articles written entitled "THE HOME BUSINESS REVEALED" are written by members of the company who write something negative but finally say that, in fact, this business is a wonderful or quality investment.
6. Make sure there is a 'Get out of Jail" card attached to the offer. You should be able to examine the opportunity for a week to a month, and be able to receive a full refund if you are not satisfied.
7. If they offer to sell you a businesses where you don't need to do a thing but you will make money, be prepared to spend a lot of money with little return.
Considering 99% of work at home programs are scams and that legitimate home based business are rare. In fact a lot of work at home opportunities that makes you some cash also turns you into a scammer by selling the same scam. But some business are legitimate.
