What is a muckshaw?

The Muckshaw Ponds Preserve is a place in Sussex County, New Jersey. It features natural sink holes and supports a high concentration of state-endangered plants and animals. The name may come from the Word muck + shaw (shaw means A thicket; a small wood or grove).
