How do you remove the rear seat pad from a 1988 Honda Shadow VT800?

put key into helmet lock on left side of bike and turn key, as you would to open helmet lock. there is a small level right behind the lock/hook. pull fimly down on that and it will release your rear seat, allow you to remove it.
