I don't know the source of the information for the answer given, but I have commonly read information stating MJ's hands measured 9-9.25" from the top of his wrist to the tip of his middle finger. 12.25" sounds excessively large. Even Shaq's hands are estimated to be around 11"=< 12", and there is no doubt his hands are larger than MJ's.
