What type of boat requires navigational lights?

As pertaining to International and Inland recognized waters *note*, any vessel operating in the waters described in Rule 1 are required to have navigational lights in MOST cases. This includes kayaks and canoes (Rule 25). Depending on the size, nature of work, geographical location and specific conditions, the lights will vary. If you are a US resident, please refer to the US Coast Guard Navigation Rules, International and Inland. It is suggested you read all the rules, however rule 1,2, 21-31 will be a guide to see what is required.
