Can using red diesel in a car make it loose power?

Red diesel, is dyed that color because it is for "off road vehicles only", Doesn't have D.O.T. tax, illegal to use on the road. I do think the sulfur content is higher than pump diesel, won't affect power, but might the high sulfur may cause problems(check engien light).
