Horse breath into each others nostrils as a way of identifying and sharing info about each other. (Kind of like the exchange of info that takes place when dogs sniff each other's hinnys) It usually only occurs upon meeting a strange horse, not with pasture buddies. Humans can do it to a horse as well, but if you have just smoked or eaten meat your horse may make faces or walk away.
