Answer 1
Its not important, we will discriminate for as long as we live on this earth.
To try and stop it is just plain idiotic.
Answer 2
Gender Discrimination is a serious problem. It hampers the development of societies, when an entire of half of the population cannot be as productive and successful due to arbitrary laws and preconceived notions both concerning a "man's role" and a "woman's role". There is no reason why a man cannot aspire to love and care for his family or a woman cannot aspire to be a career executive. Yet, we impose both legal and behavioral limits to expressly prevent the manifestation by each of their chosen identity. These impositions are gender discrimination.
Answer 1 has an implicit assumption that discrimination is inate in people. However, it has been demonstrated psychologically that five-year-old children and younger do not naturally discriminate. Discrimination is a learned behavior, which means equally that we can unlearn it as individuals and as societies. It will just take a lot of work, but the flowering of the human endeavor is certainly worth it.
