A:There is no Old Testament prophecy of the birth of a Messiah. A Christian tradition is that Isaiah 7:14 was a prophecy of the virgin birth of the Messiah: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Although it does not actually mention Jesus, this does seem to be a prophecy of his birth, but this is based on the Septuagint, an early, flawed Greek translation of the Hebrew scriptures. The original Hebrew text does not say, "a virgin," it says, "the young woman." The young woman, a prophetess, did have a child a few verses later, at verse 8:3, but was not a virgin.
