Change the battery on a 2002 vw passat?

Lift the hood. Between the windshied wipers is a hidden panel with battery markings on it. Remove the panel. Disconnect the battery leads, I prefer to remove the ground (black) first then the red second. Check to see if there is a battery retention bolt or strap holding down the battery and remove it if its there. Take out the battery and drop in the new one making sure to reconnect all cables and any battery tie-down stuff.
