When did the Wright brothers invent the airplane?

The Wright brothers worked for several years to create an airplane. Their first successful flight was in 1903. They flew the first plane four times on December 17 at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk North Carolina, USA.
It was flown in 1904 and made for a good 4 years before that so it was made in 1904 but they started building it in 1900 They worked on a series of gliders in the 1890s and started the build of the engined Flyer at the turn of the century and it was first flown Dec 17th 1903.
