What are examples of compounds at a fifth grade level?

Compounds are substances made up of two or more different elements that are chemically bonded together. For example, water (H₂O) is a compound made of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Another example is carbon dioxide (CO₂), which consists of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. Table salt (NaCl) is also a compound made from sodium and chlorine.
