His tactics were similar to those he used in WW1.

With relatively small forces compared to the enemy he kept attacking and attacking, almost never listening to the orders from Germany, which made it impossible for the English to know what he was going to do even once they managed to hack Enigma's code (The machine the Germans used to create encoded messages)

He also sometimes camouflaged cars or other small vehicles as tanks, as he did in Tobruk.
