Normally healthy people do not entertain suicidal thoughts. A form a depression or other mental or brain problems are usually the impetus for suicide attempts. Some people who are dying will sometimes entertain ideas of attempting suicide. The problem is that most of the time a suicide attempt does not work but will get the person the real help they need. So rather than making any attempts at suicide it is better to get the problems resolved as best as possible. Some people fail to realize that a brain tumor or a simple, treatable sickness can make them feel suicidal. That is why I say it is better to get an exam by a doctor to see why the person has suicidal thoughts in the first place. If you are doing this then call one of the Hotlines or see your doctor right away or go to the emergency room. You have my prayers if you are this way. The Hotline numbers are in the telephone book and probably online too.
