William G. Brownlow (born August 29, 1805 in Wythe County, Virginia; died April 29, 1877 in Knoxville, Tennessee) succeeded Edward H. East as the twentieth Governor of Tennessee, serving between April 5, 1865 and February 25, 1869, including the whole of 1866.
