The value of an "old" five-dollar bill will vary with the age and condition. If you got this bill out of circulation, it's almost certainly only worth five dollars. The "average" life span of a paper note is only a couple of years or so (with higher values having a bit longer life). A lot of would-be collectors hit eBay, and they check to see what's for sale there and what is being asked or bid for it.
