What branch of the military was George Steinbrenner in?

George Steinbrenner served in the U.S. Air Force. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant after graduating from Williams College in 1952. He spent two years in active duty before returning to civilian life and eventually becoming the owner of the New York Yankees.
