What was the name of the man known as the crocodile hunter and why was he so famous?

His name was Steven Erwin. He was so famous because of his love and passion for animals. He made hundreds of episodes and, in my eyes and many others, he would have been the new David Attenborough if he hadn't of been stung by a Manta Ray.
