Is venus hotter or colder than earth?

Venus is hotter than Earth, because not only is it closer to the sun, but it has a much denser atmosphere and therefore retains heat that travels through the atmosphere but can't get out again, aka greenhouse gas effect. Venus is in fact at least twelve times the temperature of Earth!
