The following is a risk assessment we use to determine the chances of an infestation. The items on the list are all likely ways to pick up a bed bug infestation. Please note that bed bugs are in no way linked to dirt or uncleanliness.
There are a few questions that you must ask yourself in order to determine your risk level with grades from 1-10, 10 being the highest risk. Take a moment to ask yourself the questions below, and for each question you can answer "yes" to, add another point to your risk level.
- Have you previously had a problem with bed bugs?
- Have you moved within the past three months?
- Have you used a moving truck within the past three months?
- Have you spent a night in a hotel in the past three months?
- Do you use public transportation (buses, taxis, trains, planes) on a regular basis?
- Have you had guests stay overnight in the past three months?
- Do you purchase second hand furniture, or new furniture that was stored in a warehouse?
- Have you noticed bites where your skin directly contacts bedding or furniture?
