What is used to treat a non-life threatining extremity hemorrhage when a pressure dressing is not effective?

This question is kind of an oxymoron. If a pressure dressing is not effective on a hemorrhage, eventually it WILL become life threatening . The next step is a tourniquet .Apply tourniquet above the would . Check the extremity frequently to see if it's getting cold. If it is, loosen the tourniquet for 30 seconds or so to give the limb some circulation, then tighten again. You can not do this indefinitely , or you will end up with a necrotic limb. Do everything you can to get help or get to an ER .
