It is a very quick and well-handling sedan that is also highly rated as a used car by Consumer Reports. In its April 2008 issue it included the '05 WRX as one of its Good Choices for the price range of $16,000 - $18,000 (prices should be lower now in 2009). As a former owner of a 2002 model, I can say it's a very enjoyable car to own and drive (if you like cars that can move fast and corner well). Subaru does recommend, though, that 91 octane gasoline be used in the WRX; combined with mediocre mileage that means it's not the cheapest car to run (I averaged about 25 mpg.) Servicing by a dealer is pretty expensive, so it would be best to find a reliable and knowledgeable independent mechanic. A final note: The turbocharged engine delivers great performance above 3000 rpm, but under that it seems just an average 4-cylinder car.
