Why did some religious and political leaders feel threatened by Jesus?

This is a claim made by the Christian Bible, however, there is no basis in historical fact for this claim. At the time Jesus was supposed to have lived, there were many men who claimed to be hamoshiach and were followed by various groups. At most, Jesus would have been one of many such false claimants.
