Because as it is in the tropics it is hot & wet. This promotes rapid plant growth. The rainforest is a diverse region of rapidly growing plant life, trees, grasses, bushes & so on all competing for direct sunlight and soil nutrients. So hot + wet + nutrition = Rainforest.
