Why did John Madden retire from couching the raiders?

He disliked traveling by airplane so he decided to step down as head coach of the Oakland Raiders after the 1978 season. When Madden became a television analyst, he traveled the country in a specially outfitted bus nicknamed the Madden Cruiser.
