What is Argentina's official currency?

The currency since 1992 is the Argentine peso (ARS), which in early 2012 was equal to about 0.25 US dollar in value. Because of economic instability and inflation, earlier units called the peso were replaced. The most recent prior denomination was the austral (1985-1991).
