Where can I find inexpensive apps in the apps store?

If you have an iphone, when you go into the Apps Store, hit 'Top 25.' At the top, there is a 'Top Free' section. Here you will find the top downloaded free applications. This changes on a daily basis, so there are always new applications to find.
