Interesting. They occurred very distantly in time (the Louisiana Purchase in 1803 and the Indian Removal Act in 1830. However, I suppose they can be said to be related because the "Indian Territory" to which the eastern Indians were "voluntarily" relocated (often at gunpoint) was located in lands which the United States had acquired via the Louisiana Purchase. Most of the "Indian Territory" later became the state of Oklahoma.
