What type of religion is Santeria?

It is an essentially polytheistic spirit religion that has borrowed concepts and saints ( hence the name, roughly state of being saintly, sainted) from Roman Catholicism. Some other deities are non-Christian, such as Jemanja or Yemaya, something of a Venus type, who is drawn as a marine goddess ( but not a mermaid) in a very attractive Blue Empire Gown, and usually with the crescent moon in the background= alluding to Venus. She has been identified with the actress Raquel Welch by the so-called naptha cult, who use Naptha as an intoxicant and one might add devotional object.
