To remove the agitator from a Kenmore washer, first unplug the machine and turn off the water supply. Remove the fabric softener dispenser from the top of the agitator, then use a socket wrench to unscrew the bolt securing the agitator in place. Once the bolt is removed, pull the agitator straight up to detach it from the base. If it’s stuck, gently wiggle it while pulling to free it from any debris or buildup.
