Does composition mean the same as synthesis?

It does not mean the same but are both in a way related.

Composition is what a material is made of

Synthesis is to make a material/compund artifichally

Examples.

The composition of salt water is fresh water and 4% salt.

We can synthesize/make salt water by mixing fresh water and appropriate amount of salt.

Many medicines we use today are cheaper to synthesize.
