It happenned to me when I accidentally placed a microwave container on the hot Ceran surface. I first soaked the deposit in Acetone (after cooling the stove - Acetone is inflammable), and then used the standard ceramic hot plate surface cleaner (I presume some kind of fine abrasive in a paste) followed by real hard rubbing. Another method is to burn it off (watch for toxic smell!), and then remove the residue marks using the normal cleaning paste. I have not tried the latter method, but a friend tells me that it works.
