Do hand sanitizers discolor fabrics

Yes hand sanitizers can discolor fabrics.

I have had several shirts and two pairs of pants ruined now by spots created by hand sanitizer. The spots are very similar to bleach spots in appearance which is why it took me awhile to realize what was really ruining my clothes. I would use hand sanitizer to clean little spills on my clothing while at work. It cleans the spots nicely and it evaporates so there is no wet spot like when you use water. The problem comes after the next wash of your clothes. The hand sanitizer does evaporate but the bleached looking spots don't appear until after the next wash/drying of the clothes and then the damage is permanent as far as I can tell. The spots are very visible especially on dark clothes.
