Why is it important for a journalist to determine the purpose and the adience of their article prior to writing?

first, readership refers to people who read a publication or a newspaper in a daily basis.

For a journalist to satisfy his readers are different,for example male or female,level of education is not same.

Readers want to see,hear and read about how people are affected by an event.since the human element catches the readers interest,tell the story in human terms that people can understand.

1.Know the readers interest-readers are hetregenous audience composed with different needs and interest.

2.Understand the diversity of your audience-this is by looking at the sub groups.eg race,gender,ethnic groups,religion,in the society.

3.Understand the lifestyle of your audience-people are changing from the traditional way of life to modern way of life.

4.know the market you are writing for-be it local or international.

Always remember that the smaller the audience the greater the amount of personal News.

5.know the language of the audience you are Writing for.

6.Determine the length of your article.
