Is Alice in Wonderland cynical

This depends of which medium "Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" is being presented on. In the original book, while there may have been a small amount of cynicism, for the most part, the mood was fun and adventurous, delightful fanciful escapism. However, is it is Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland", the mood is definitely cynical, but still allows for a bit of irreverent fantasy as well.
