What did promtheus do to anger the gods?

He gave fire to humanity by stealing it from Hēphaistos, and he gave humankind crafts which he stole from Athēna. For this he was chained to a rock in the Bosporus where an eagle would eat his liver every day, because it kept growing back, as he is an immortal God.
