The Kaaba is considered the qibla, or the direction Muslims face during prayer, and its location in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is fixed. As Earth is a sphere, the direction to the Kaaba from any location varies; for those in the Western Hemisphere, it will be to the east, while in the Eastern Hemisphere, it could be to the west or south. The perception of the Kaaba being "always in the west" may arise from specific locations where it is indeed to the west, but this is not universally true for all places on Earth.
