What is satanalia?

Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival held in December to honor the god Saturn. It involved a week of feasting, gift-giving, and revelry, during which social norms were often relaxed, and roles were temporarily reversed, with slaves and masters exchanging places. The festivities were characterized by public banquets, games, and a spirit of merriment and joy. Saturnalia significantly influenced later cultural celebrations, including Christmas traditions.
