Names of states on back of 5 dollar billIf you use a super magnifying glass, you can see the names of either 26 or 27 states - depending on whether you can make out "N&S Carolina", or just "S Carolina" - These are listed in two sections on the back of the 5 dollar bill - one set at the top - around the frieze, and the other set above the pillars.
At the top around the frieze - left to right -
Arkansas-Michigan-Florida-Texas-Iowa-Wisconsin-California-Minnesota-Oregon
-Kansas-West Virginia-Nevada-Nebraska-Colorado-North Dakota
Next Level - Above the columns - left to right
Delaware-Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Georgia-Connecticut-Massachusetts-
Maryland-(Maybe,. . ) S. Carolina-New Hampshire-Virginia-New York
Note that these are the states that would be visible if you looked at the Lincoln Memorial from the same vantage point that was used to make the engraving. Only 26 (or 27) names are visible because the others are on the back of the building, which of course is hidden from view.
