Where do people from rural areas get water from?

Rain and dams are the first port of call, they also save rain water for drinking by having tanks that take water from the roofs of the buildings. In some areas wells are dug or water is drawn from deep underground using either artesian or subartesian water. if worse comes to worse it has to be shipped in by tankers.
