This would depend on the stage of MS the person being cared for is at. Also what kind of MS they have such as if it is remitting or not. Many people who have MS live a long time without severe disability, sometimes they never have a severe disability. However, many people have many good years, followed by a slow, progressive, decline in physical function that can lead to complete dependence on other people/caregivers/family for all or most of their activities of daily living (bathing, feeding, home management etc). Every patient is different and the best way to deal with care needs in MS patients is to wait and see what happens.
