Where there any problem building the CN tower?

I remember hearing, around the time the CN tower was being built, that the curvature of the earth was a factor that hadn't been considered at the time, and that adjustments had to be made while construction was in progress. Also, it appears that there is a slight spiral in the tower around the base. Can anyone comment on these issues?
