Does he love you or just like you?

What I believe is the best definition of true love is "choosing the greatest good for the other person"

He is not selfish.

It takes a long time for a relationship to build up to true love, and it requires trust and respect to build up between you.

By the previous definition, he would be more happy if you were with someone you'd rather be with than with him. That would be choosing the greater good.

most, if not all, preteen relationships are just selfish, and the boy just wants to be with you rather than truly care about you.

If you are still wondering if he truly loves you, you must eventually put him to the test.

you must do something or tell him something that would onlybenefit you, and would put him in a worse position, farther away from you. The typical boyfriend who would get mad at another man for loving (or liking) her, even though she likes this other man more, is just selfish. He would rather have you to himself than with someone you'd be happier with.

you'll have to talk to him to truly find out (but obviously don't flat -out ask him, he'll just say he loves you)
